I haven't seen the movie, but the depiction of women in the movie that you report REALLY pisses me off. I'm sure the women scene is WAY exaggerated and fictitious. Here we go again, Hollywood; shame on you. Now I feel I have to warn my daughters before they go see it, but what good does a dad's advice do for teenage girls when there is so much crap in our dominant 'entertainment' culture? Aaarghh!

Please don't for a nano-second doubt your frustration and reaction to this kind of BS Ilana.

There is a clear statement in the preamble:
“International treaties … uphold the right to freedom of religion and belief – the right to hold a belief, the right to change one’s religion or belief, the right to express one’s religion or belief, and the right not to hold a belief.”
“and the right not to hold a belief” could perhaps have been made more explicit in the body of the statement.

In the face of monstrous disasters we find a way to consign the natural world to the background. We fear the idea of Earth-life. When we stick to those emotional “human interest stories” and value-neutral reports (like weather reports) – then something paradoxical happens. When we demote the Earth we dismiss ourselves. Since the earth scientists tell us that we are the cause – we must take these evasive maneuvers to escape our own guilty role. This leaves us with such spectacles as three thousand words in the newspaper of record never suggesting that the 600 tornadoes are a response to the heating of the planet by human activity. We don’t want the 600 tornadoes to mean anything. That would be as if they were attempting to converse with us. And – tornadoes can’t talk, can they?

  13. Ha Tikvah says:

For me Truth is personified in the person of Jesus Christ. NO other religion or belief system worships a God who loves His creation enough to redeem it as the God of the Bible. NO other religion or belief system has an answer to man's most basic problem – sin (however or whatever you want to actually call it – mans inherent desire to do evil NOT good!). And NO other religion or belief system has a Redeemer who not only died for our sins to pay our price to God, but who was resurrected to prove to us the truth of life after death, and that He has opened the door to those willing to accept His payment. NO other religion or belief system has a book given by God which proves its Truth through continually fulfilled prophecies – Jesus fulfilled more than 300 alone, and those yet to be fufilled are coming to pass before our very eyes in this generation. Anyone sincerely desiring to find the Truth should make their starting point Jesus, and work backwards if for some reason He doesn't satisfy their search, rather than the other way round. Blessings, TKR :)

I believe everything happens for a reasons. So I guess that's believing in fate. But to believe in fate, you have believe in something. It can be anything…. a religion or belief in a high power. Something greater than you that is making this fate happen…… who's the mastermind?
We all have our different opinions…. God, gods, Christianity (which I have always leaned toward), Judaism, muslim, etc, etc, etc……
We don't have all the exact same beliefs, but I think we just have to respect each others…. The are more similar than you'd think.

I went to “Camp Obama” and became part of a phone banking/ canvassing team. My specific job is data management for my team. The Obama organization is very impressive and well organized. The use of technology and the internet to manage the teams is amazing. It assures the data is being used. My small team alone is making 1200-1500 calls per week and running canvassing tears to Nevada o weekends as well as finding more volunteers. It's hard to grasp how amazing it is unless you are a part of it.
